Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions in relation to our Printer Repairs service.

Do you come to us, or do we bring the device to your workshop?
No, we come to you as our techs are all out on the road. We will repair the printer at your location.

 

Do you repair photocopiers as well as printers?
Not stand alone copiers. Only if the machine is Multi-Function Device (MFD).

 

What is the difference between a copier and a multi-function device (MFD)?
An MFD can comprise of being a printer / copier / scanner and fax. All in one. It may have all of these functions, or just a couple. A copier only prints copies of a document.

 

What is an ‘MFD’?
‘MFD’ is another way of saying a ‘Multi-function Device’ and can comprise of being a printer / copier / scanner and fax. All in one. It may have all of these functions, or just a couple.

Are there any printers or MFDs that you do not service?
We service and repair most printers but there are a small number that we do not service due to age, brand etc. To check call us on 1300 LASERFAST (1300 527 373).

 

Does the labour fee cover you cleaning the machine as well?
Yes we carry out a general clean and service.

 

Do you supply spare parts?
We do supply the parts that are associated with a service call. We do supply a very small number of individual spare parts. Please contact us for more information on 1300 LASERFAST (1300 527 373).

 

How much do you charge for a service call or for a technician to come to my location and repair my printer?
The amount we charge for a service call depends upon your location and the number of devices we are servicing:

  • Metropolitan regions (0- 40km from capital city GPO in each state) - $105 per device ex GST.
  • Outer Metropolitan regions (41- 60km from capital city GPO is each state) - $130 per device ex GST. Note there are some exceptions to these distances, such as the Gold Coast and Parramatta regions.
  • Regional locations (More than 61kn from capital city GPO is each state) - $160 per device ex GST. Note that service calls to some remote locations within Australia may also attract an additional charge for travel.

What is included in a service call or technician visit?
A service call is charged per device you need attended to and includes the attendance of our technician at your location to:

  • Identify and diagnose the cause of fault and takes steps to rectify where possible
  • Obligation free quotation on parts (if parts are required) for repair of device
  • Includes return visit with required parts if necessary
  • Includes advice (where possible) of whether it’s worthwhile to repair a device or get a new one

Also includes cleaning of the fuser assembly, the inside and outside of device (including spilt toner) and rotation of pickup rollers

 

How long does the service call fee allow your tech to be on-site for ?
It’s a fixed price call out fee, therefore it will be the same whether our technician is on-site for 20mins or on-site for 2 hours.

 

Will your technician bring the parts he may need with him?
Our technicians unfortunately cannot carry all parts with him, but we will quote you on any parts that may be needed and also advise an approx. eta on our tech returning with the parts

 

Do we have to pay a 2nd call out fee if your technician comes back to site to install parts?
No, the fixed price call out fee includes the technician returning to site to install any parts that may be required.

 

If the job is under warranty can I log it with you or should it be logged with the manufacturer or Extended Warranty company?
You will need to contact the manufacturer for any devices still under warranty.

How do I know if my printer is still under warranty?
You will have to check your receipts and the manufacturer's terms and conditions.

 

Will you advise me of the cost of parts so I can make a decision as to whether to proceed with a repair or not?
Yes. It is then your decision whether to proceed with the repair or not.

 

Will you give advice on whether it is worthwhile to repair my printer or better to get a new one?
Yes where possible.

 

How do I know if my printer has the most up-to-date firmware and/or the correct driver?
 
Go to the manufacturer’s website/support. See our firmware page for links to those sites.

Do you offer Service and/or Maintenance Agreements?

Do you sell and deliver printer cartridges?
Yes we do. We have a range of services that can supply you with cartridges. Laserfast.net.au is our online cartridge superstore where you can purchase printer cartridges for all brands and models.
