What is a Managed Print Service (MPS)?
An MPS is outsourcing of the management of an organisation’s print devices to LaserFast, who then service and maintain the print devices for the organisation, as well as pro-actively monitoring and suppling consumables to keep the print devices functioning.
Are all Managed Print Services the same?
No. MPS are tailored to an organisation’s specific requirements, such as:
- volume of printing required
- the ratio of colour to black and white printing
- scanning and document archiving requirements
- the number of people who need to use the devices
- service level required
LaserFast analyses an organisation’s requirements and consults with them before designing a solution.

Is an MPS suitable for all organisations?
Generally businesses with more than 30 staff members and 3 or 4 print devices will gain significant benefits from a Managed Print Service. For smaller organisations it really depends upon your requirements. Some businesses are better suited to a simple purchase or leasing arrangement for their print devices and utilise LaserFast for service, repairs and consumables supply as and when required.
How do I know if an MPS would benefit my organisation?
The best way to determine this is to ask LaserFast for an obligation free assessment of your print environment, your current running costs and your plans for the future. This is easy to initiate as LaserFast does all the work for you.
We use specialised software to measure your current print output and have discussions with you as to your current and future requirements. Then we can make recommendations as to whether an MPS will be of benefit to your organisation.
How long does it take to make an assessment and receive a solutions proposal from LaserFast?
Once our specialised software is installed and measuring your output the assessment has commenced and we will be able to provide you with a solution within 4 weeks.

Is it possible to get an MPS assessment without installing the software?
Yes it is. We can get an estimate of your current requirements during our consultation process and then design a solution for you based upon your future development plans. This approach is particularly useful for new businesses and start-ups who have little, if any, current output.
How long is an MPS agreement for?
It depends upon your requirements; however the average length of an MPS agreement is 3 years.
Will my organisation save money if they move to an MPS agreement with LaserFast?
Yes, particularly when the labour costs associated with managing your current print environment is taken into account.

How much can my organisation expect to save on our printing and copying costs if we move to an MPS agreement with LaserFast?
Typically you can cut printing and copying costs by 25% and energy costs by 40% or more by leveraging economies of scale and rethinking how many printers you actually need.
Does my organisation have to replace our entire print fleet if we move to an MPS agreement with LaserFast?
No. We’ll work with you to design the best solution for your requirements and wherever possible will try to prolong the life of your current print devices (which we call the ‘legacy fleet’).
Can I have an MPS agreement that includes a mixture of our current print devices as well as some new devices provided by LaserFast?
Yes. We’ll work with you to design the best solution for your requirements and wherever possible will try to prolong the life of your current print devices (which we call the ‘legacy fleet’).

What type of devices and which brands does LaserFast supply?
We have long-standing agreements with all the major print device manufacturers so we are able to provide you with multi-function devices, printers and copiers from HP, Lexmark, Ricoh, Canon, Kyocera, Konica Minolta and many others.
We will always recommend the best devices to suit your requirements and budget. If you have a preference for a particular brand over another, then simply let us know and we’ll incorporate that into our solution.
Will moving to a LaserFast MPS help my organisation improve our carbon footprint?
Yes. Reducing the number of laser printers and scanners reduces electricity consumption -- especially since even idle devices use power to rotate their internal fusers and keep their temperatures high enough to be ready to print when needed. LaserFast will also place the best device suitable for the tasks required, improving efficiency and reducing redundancy.

Can we alter our MPS solution as our business needs change in the future?
Yes. Our agreement with you remains flexible and we’ll continue to consult with you over the life of the agreement to ensure your needs are being met as your business grows.
Will LaserFast remove any print devices we are no longer using and recycle them?
Yes. We’ll collect your old print devices and put them into a recycling program where parts and other materials may be re-used for another purpose or disposed of in the most ecologically friendly manner.
Will LaserFast recycle the printer cartridges we use in our MPS?
Yes. We can provide you with a recycling collection system through our partner Eccosave. This program will ensure all our used cartridges are re-used or disposed of in the most ecologically friendly manner. For more information see our ECO/GREEN Programs page.
